Five Point Action Plan

THE FIVE-POINT ACTION PLAN FOR BALTIMORE COUNTY

CITIZENS AND BUSINESS OWNERS MUST CONTACT THE COUNTY EXECUTIVES OFFICE AND THE SEVEN MEMBERS OF THE COUNTY COUNCIL. SEND THEM AN E-MAIL OR CALL PERSONALLY TELLING THEM YOU SUPPORT THE PLAN. FORTUNATELY, WE ONLY HAVE  EIGHT ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES TO CONVINCE. THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE AND SEVEN COUNCIL MEMBERS.

  1. Provide full funding support in efforts to hire, promote and retain the best and brightest personnel ensuring our Citizens receive the most advanced service available.
  2. Align the service retirement eligibility with that of surrounding jurisdictions. Retirement should be 25 years of credible service with no age limit. The present 30 year retirement requirement prevents recruitment efforts.
  3. Conduct a true national search for a Fire Chief. Continuously promoting or recruiting a department head based upon political favors does not stabilize or improve morale.
  4. Actively recruit paramedics from educational institutions within our own boundaries! We are losing highly qualified folks by practicing perceived quotas as opposed to hiring the most qualified for the jobs.
  5. Demand a comprehensive review of all training for employees. Ensure that adequate supervision at the field level is present.

The five-point action plan was provided by the advice of the retired fire service personnel. The plan is absolutely necessary to move the fire service forward to a position where full protection is provided to the Citizens of Baltimore County. The Citizens of Baltimore County must join the movement to make the necessary changes to build a safe County. Your contributions and support will provide the opportunity through the use of direct mail and other media outlets the ability to reach tens of thousands of fellow Citizens in Baltimore County. THE FIRST RESPONDERS MOVEMENT is nonpolitical and nonpartisan. It is a civic engagement, and public policy effort to make Citizens aware of this serious problem and promote positive change.
